The concept of "laziness" is subjective, but studies often measure inactivity using physical activity levels. The World Health Organization (WHO) and The Lancet have conducted research on global inactivity rates, ranking countries based on the percentage of people who do not meet recommended physical activity guidelines.
Based on such studies, here are six of the most inactive (least physically active) countries:
1. Kuwait 🇰🇼
- Around 67% of the population is physically inactive.
- High obesity rates due to a sedentary lifestyle and car dependency.
2. American Samoa 🇦🇸
- More than 50% of the population is inactive.
- Fast food culture and urbanization contribute to low activity levels.
3. Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
- Around 53% of people are inactive.
- Hot climate and car-dependent infrastructure reduce physical movement.
4. Iraq 🇮🇶
- About 52% of Iraqis are physically inactive.
- Conflict and urbanization have reduced outdoor activities.
5. Brazil 🇧🇷
- Approximately 47% of people do not engage in enough exercise.
- Urban lifestyle changes and high screen time impact activity levels.
6. The United Kingdom 🇬🇧
- Around 40% of adults do not meet physical activity recommendations.
- Office jobs and sedentary lifestyles contribute to inactivity.
These rankings are based on inactivity rates, but it doesn’t mean people in these countries are "lazy"—many factors like climate, culture, urbanization, and work-life balance affect physical activity.
